lacdye (Food grade)

Lac dye

Lac dye is a deep red colorant extracted from the crude shellac resin excreted by the lac insect. It is water-soluble and very easy to use.

Lac dye is a natural color pigment and not considered toxic. Therefore it is widely used as food color additive in Asia, especially Japan, Korea, and China.
